Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a statutory framework for learning, care and development of children from birth to five. It ensures that all under-fives in childcare benefit from a safe, secure and happy environment where they can play and develop.

At the heart of the EYFS is the principle that young children need to play in order to have fun, make friends and begin to learn and understand the world around them.

If you have any questions on how the EYFS is put into practice at playgroup, please ask a member of staff.

More information about the EYFS can be found on the Government’s EYFS page .
